Automated analysis
critical priorityCVSS 9.8 unauthenticated network takeover, CISA KEV listing with known ransomware use, and near-certain EPSS probability make this an urgent patch.
What it is
Oracle Concurrent Processing (BI Publisher Integration) in Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.3-12.2.14 contains an improper authentication flaw (CWE-287) that lets an unauthenticated network attacker compromise the component. It is rated CVSS 9.8 and is listed in CISA KEV with known ransomware campaign use, so it is a high-value target for immediate patching.
Impact
A successful attack can fully take over Oracle Concurrent Processing, with high confidentiality, integrity and availability impact across the affected component. Given the KEV ransomware association, follow-on data theft or encryption of connected business data is a realistic outcome.
Attack surface
Reachable over the network via HTTP with no authentication and no user interaction required (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N). Any internet- or network-exposed Oracle E-Business Suite instance running an affected version is in scope.
Exploitation
CISA added it to KEV on 2025-10-06 with a 2025-10-27 remediation due date and flags known ransomware campaign use; EPSS 30-day probability is 0.99732 (99.95th percentile). References include a CrowdStrike report on a campaign targeting this zero-day, confirming active exploitation.
What to do
- Apply the Oracle security alert fix for CVE-2025-61882 (and the referenced July 2025 CPU) to all E-Business Suite instances on 12.2.3-12.2.14.
- If patching cannot be completed before the KEV due date, restrict network access to Concurrent Processing and BI Publisher endpoints to trusted hosts only.
- Follow CISA BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the affected component until mitigations are in place.
- Review and rotate credentials and secrets for E-Business Suite service accounts in case of prior compromise.
- Confirm no unauthorized changes to Concurrent Processing jobs, BI Publisher reports or integration configurations.
Detection
- Monitor HTTP requests to Concurrent Processing and BI Publisher integration endpoints for anomalous or unauthenticated access patterns.
- Alert on unexpected creation or modification of concurrent programs, jobs and BI Publisher reports.
- Hunt for new or modified E-Business Suite application accounts and privilege changes outside change windows.
- Correlate E-Business Suite logs with endpoint and network telemetry for post-exploitation activity consistent with ransomware staging.
